Global solidarity with women in Afghanistan

Faced with the recent situation in Afghanistan, a huge wave of support has reached us in the form of donations, encouragement and messages of solidarity. It is empowering to see how many people are standing by us in these difficult times. This is especially consoling and encouraging for us and for our colleagues in Afghanistan at the moment.
Global signs of connection
Our partner organisations in other regions have also demonstrated their solidarity with the women and girls in Afghanistan. For example, medica Liberia, our partner organisation in West Africa, held a vigil and the organisation’s director, Carol Bowah, sent the women and girls in Afghanistan the following message:
“We are praying for peace and hope, and we send our love to the women and girls in Afghanistan. We are thinking of you: today and always. We are also sending you the light of these candles to ease your pain and your fears. Maybe you once again find new strength for your struggle! We are here for you.”
Our partners EMMA from northern Iraq have also sent their wishes and messages of solidarity, as did our partners in Uganda, Kosovo, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Our network continues to fight!
We are proud of the strong feminist solidarity that has carried us through almost 30 years. It is moving to see how much togetherness and support there is among our partners. This gives us courage – the courage to continue our work with as much determination as before. Please continue to support the Afghan colleagues who are still waiting to be evacuated to Germany!
