New: Poster “Evaluation with a feminist lens”

Every evaluation is political. Feminist evaluation is not a method, but an attitude — a human rights-based perspective that reveals power relations, questions discrimination, and strengthens marginalised groups.

Why is evaluating with a feminist lens important for medica mondiale?

Together with our partners, medica mondiale fights against unequal power relations that oppress and harm marginalised groups. Feminist approaches reveal power relations. They create spaces for participation, promote communities, and help ensure that evaluations not only measure results but also initiate social change.

The poster from the Evaluation and Quality Department shows how this approach can be implemented in practice. Under the title “Evaluation with a feminist lens – Key consideration and tools”, seven guiding principles are presented:

✔ Gender transformative
✔ Intersectional
✔ Stress- and trauma-sensitive
✔ Power- and knowledge-sensitive
✔ Participatory and inclusive
✔ Towards decolonialism
✔ Flexible and adaptive

The poster provides concrete ideas for all steps of the evaluation process—from evaluation planning and data collection to the presentation of results—and serves as a guideline for anyone working in project implementation and evaluation practice.

We work with national/regional evaluators who are most familiar with the national context. In evaluation processes, we work on a partnership basis, which is why we are guided by participatory methods and approaches such as outcome harvesting, participatory action research, and narrative storytelling.
